The Wabash County Historical Museum is announcing an Essay Contest for all Wabash County 4th graders. The purpose of this contest is to get kids talking and thinking about the history of our great communities in Wabash County. Below are the details for the essays.
Subject Matter: Essay is to explain and give historical significance of any site, person or event that pertains to Wabash County history.
Who: Any 4th Grade Student in Wabash County. (Public, Private, or Home schooled)
Length: No more than two typed pages double-spaced. (If possible, use Times New Roman, 12 point font). Please note that 2 pages is the maximum length.
Due: Friday, April 14, 2017
Winners Announced: Friday, April 28, 2017
Reception: For the winners, their teachers and parents will be Thursday, May 11, 2017, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Museum, 36 East Market Street, Wabash.
Prizes: The top twenty essay finalists will be invited to attend our annual reception. One winning essay will be selected from each participating school and that student will receive a $50 scholarship in their college savings account. In addition, an overall first, second and third place essay participants will receive an additional gift.
Resources: Students are encouraged to reach out to the Wabash County Historical Museum and the North Manchester Center for History or their local library for resources in developing their essay.
